Travis Grady is working the graveyard shift, hauling his freight through the outskirts of Silent Hill, when a dark shape darts in front of his truck; swerving violently to avoid it, he nearly crashes, but manages to stop safely. As he steps out of his cab to investigate, the area around him fills with fog and a ghostly little girl appears behind him but reflected in the side mirror. Unnerved by the thought that the shape he nearly hit was a child, Travis turns around quickly to speak to her, but the girl is already well ahead of him and running up the road. Worried that the girl may be injured and not realize it, Travis chases after her, but when he comes across a burning house, the screams coming from within it push Travis’ concern for the girl to the back of his mind and he gives up the chase in favor of providing aide to those trapped inside. He manages to save a young girl – now badly burned – but collapses and falls unconscious on the street as the wails of emergency sirens approach the scene. Travis wakes to find himself in Silent Hill proper, but the girl he rescued is nowhere to be found. Unable to leave without knowing her fate, Travis begins his own investigation into the fire and the girl’s subsequent disappearance. During his explorations he not only bares witness to a disturbing series of dark and shady events, but also begins to unearth some long-forgotten truths about his own childhood.

Silent Hill 0rigins – known as Silent Hill Zero in Japan – is the fifth game in the core Silent Hill series. The game is intended as a prequel to Silent Hill and explores events that take place 7 years before the start of the first game. Developed by Climax Studios, a game development company based in England, Silent Hill 0rigins is also the first Silent Hill game not developed by Konami and was produced outside of Japan; however, it was published under the Konami label. Originally released for the Playstation Portable, Silent Hill 0rigins had a follow-up release as a (less than stellar) Playstation 2 port.
